Sanicole Sunset Airshow 2026

Another edition of this fine air show weekend. This year I only made it out to the sunset airshow. The weather was nice to start with. Good temperature, no rain, a few clouds drifting about. As the evening wore on, though, the clouds closed ranks and the light got progressively harder to work with. Sadly no proper golden hour at sunset, but the flying was good while it lasted, and there's something to be said for shooting under a moody, dramatic sky anyway.
The evening flying wrapped up a bit earlier than planned, thanks to a brush fire in the heath, started by fireworks from one of the flying acts. After the drought we had this summer, you'd think they might have taken slightly better precautions on that front. Just a thought.
Several cancellations meant the jet power was sorely missed this year. But nonetheless, it was a great evening of flying. See you next year, Sanicole!
